Vanilla is one of the ingredients you will find in our products.
The vanilla bean is the fruit of a flower native to the region of Mexico, belonging to the orchid family. This flower used to be pollinated by a specific species of bees, which was essential for the formation of its fruit. When the plant was introduced to other countries, the bees did not follow, and that is why human intervention is now required for pollination.

The history of vanilla is closely linked to that of chocolate. The Aztecs and earlier the Mayans would add vanilla to a cocoa drink called xocoatl to balance the bitterness of the cacao. The Pre-Columbian civilizations attributed aphrodisiac and healing properties to vanilla.
In the Aztec language, vanilla was called "tlilxot chitl," which means "black pod." In 1518, a Spanish conquistador named Hernan Cortés brought the first vanilla plant to Europe. He named it "Vaynilla," which means "little pod."
