Zoom on the Moringa vegetable oil that you can find in the scented oils of La Bastide d'Isalinore...

Moringa oleifera is native to India (valley south of the Himalayas) and Sri Lanka. Today, it is well acclimated in the entire tropical and subtropical zone. It is present in many African countries (Senegal, Ethiopia, Mali, etc.).

It is attributed various names such as "Never die," "Tree of Heaven," or "Miracle Tree."

Since ancient times, the Romans, Greeks, and Egyptians recognized the moisturizing properties of Moringa vegetable oil. They used it as a base for their perfumes because it has the ability to absorb and retain scents. The Egyptians applied it daily to their skin to protect themselves from the sun's damage and the harsh conditions of the desert. Vases of Moringa oil were found inside some ancient tombs, indicating that this oil was once considered precious and almost sacred.

In Europe, the oil had an application in the perfume industry in Grasse during the 19th century. Its development was only hindered by the imposition of taxes.
